Goal 3: Good health and well-being

Branching from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which placed focus on reducing child mortality, improving maternal health and tackling HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases, Goal 3 of the 2030 agenda addresses all major health priorities, including reproductive, maternal and child health; communicable, non-communicable and environmental diseases; universal health coverage; and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines and vaccines. Occurrence of disease impacts the overall well-being of an individual, burdens family and public resources, weakens societies. Goal 3 aims to address the various emerging health issues of the ever-changing world. The Goal has 13 targets to measure the healthy lives and promoting well-being for all. A total of 50 indicators have been identified in State Indicator Framework to measure and monitor the progress of these targets.


Facts and figures

  • Maternal Mortality Ratio (1,00,000 live births) of State is 113 as per SRS in 2018-20.
  • 1.3 percentage of women and 0.9 percentage of men in Rajasthan are asthmatic as per NFHS-5 in 2020-21.
  • Mortality rate attributed to unintentional poisoning per 1 lakh population is 2.88 as per NCRB in 2022.
  • Life Expectancy at birth; Total – 69.4, Male – 67.1 and Female – 71.3 years as per RGI in 2016-20.
  • People killed in road accidents is 13.80 per 1,00,000 population and injured is 27.66 in 2022 as per NCRB.
  • Under Five Mortality rate is 40 per thousand live birth in 2020 as per SRS Bulletin.
  • Crude Birth Rate (CBR) is 23.5 and Crude Death Rate (CDR) is 5.6 in 2020 as per SRS Bulletin, RGI.
  • Suicide Mortality Rate per 1,00,000 population is 6.6 in 2022 as per NCRB.
  • Total TB Incidence Rate is 209 per 100000 population as per TB India Report 2022.
  • Proportion of institutional birth (5 Year / 1 Year) is 94.9 % as per NFHS-5 (2020-21).
