Goal 4: Quality education

The opportunity of receiving quality education is the foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development. The SDG 4 aims to ensure the completion of primary and secondary education by all boys and girls, and guarantee opportunities for equal access to quality technical and vocational education for everyone. It also aims to provide equal access to affordable vocational training, to eliminate gender and wealth disparities, and achieve universal access to a quality higher education. This goal has 10 targets to measure the inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities. A total of 29 indicators have been identified at State level to monitor the progress of these targets.


Facts and figures

  • Net enrolment Ratio in primary education is 84.12%, and upper primary education is 67.03 % in 2021-22.
  • Gross Enrollment ratio in Higher Secondary education is 70.33 in 2021-22.
  • Adjusted Net enrolment Ratio in primary education is 95.17%, upper primary education is 82.46 % and in Secondary 66.35 in 2021-22.
  • Out of School Ratio in Elementary is 1.54%, secondary and Sr.secondary education is 8.89% in 2020-21 as per Education Department Report.
  • Out of School Ratio at Elementary level is 1.54, and at Secondary & Senior Secondary Level it is 8.89% in 2020-21 as per Education Department.
  • Gender Parity indices at primary level is 1.03, Upper primary is 0.92, Secondary is 0.90 in 2021-22. In Higher Secondary it is 1.00 in 2020-21.
  • 316 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya for SC girls in 2020-21.
  • 100% of children enrolled in primary and upper primary schools are covered under Mid-Day-Meal Program.
