Goal 1: No poverty

Poverty is a multi-dimensional phenomenon. It not only indicates the lack of income or access to resources but it also manifests in the form of diminished opportunities for education, hunger and malnutrition, social discrimination and the inability to participate in decision-making processes. Eradicating poverty in all its forms remains one of the greatest challenges before the mankind. One should not forget that the extreme deprivation is not just about wellbeing and opportunity, it is a question of survival also. This Goal has 7 targets to measure the progress of State in ending poverty, in all its forms, from everywhere. The State Indicator Framework comprise of 33 indicators for this goal.


Facts and figures

  • 90.22% persons provided employment as a percentage of persons who demanded employment under MGNREGA in 2022-23.
  • 48.67 lakh persons were benefitted under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) during 2022-23.
  • 93.09% eligible beneficiaries benefitted under Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) against enrolled in 2022-23.
  • 87.8% households with any usual member covered under any health insurance or health scheme 2020-21.
  • 1442 senior citizens provided institutional assistance through old age Homes/Day care centers funded by the government in 2022-23.
  • 75,669 Self Help Groups (SHGs) provided bank credit linkage in 2022-23.
  • 43.45% of total government spending on essential services (education, health, and social protection) is estimated in 2023-24.
  • 50.49% of budget earmarked is estimated under pro-poor gender specific budgeting in 2023-24.
